Dominican University-River Forest, Illinois Founded in 1901, on a 37 acre wooded campus in suburban River Forest, Illinois and just 10 miles west of downtown Chicago. Courses taken through Dominican University (DU) provide three graduate level credits per course. Dominican University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), a Commission of the North Central Association (NCA) of Colleges and Schools. It is also accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education, the Teacher Education Accreditation Council and CAEP formerly NCATE.
