ATHLETIC THERAPY

Athletic Therapy is a specialized practice in the conditioning, assessment, and rehabilitation of acute and chronic injuries pertaining to the musculoskeletal system (muscle, bones, and joints).

In the clinic, following the Sports Medicine Model, athletic therapists take on an active approach to rehabilitation of orthopaedic and sport injuries using a combination of manual, movement and other modalities to help individuals return to their sport, school, work, and activities of daily living.

AT is geared towards those who are finished (or near finish) their rehab and want to lose fat mass, increase muscle mass, enhance sport performance, improve their mobility, flexibility, endurance, strength and power capacities.

I’m not an athlete, can I still benefit from Athletic Therapy?

Absolutely! Athletic therapy is for anyone who wants to improve their movement capacities and struggles with an orthopedic injury.

From the occasional walker to an elite athlete, we help individuals optimize their ability to move. The first session is an evaluation where we determine where you are in terms of pain and movement. From there, we discuss and make a plan together to ensure we reach where you want to be.

I have an older injury and am no longer in pain but my performance is struggling. Can you help?

In this case, we use Performance Therapy as our approach.

Performance therapy is taking the next step after rehabilitation of an injury to get you to perform at your peak in your sport, physical activity, work, and whatever else in your life that requires you to be at your best potential. Taking principles of movement variability, resiliency, and proficiency, performance therapy can help you optimize the way you move to reduce your chance of re-injury and to optimize your performance.

Certified Athletic Therapists can help with the following conditions (and more!) :

+ Concussion Management

+ Ligament Sprains

+ Low Back Pain

+ Shoulder Impingement

+ Tennis/Golfer’s Elbow
